India Aims to Join Elite Space Club With Reusable Rocket Landing Mission

ndia is preparing for a major milestone in space technology as Chennai-based startup Agnikul Cosmos plans to test a reusable rocket that can safely land in the ocean after launch. During its upcoming Mission 02, the first stage of the Agnibaan rocket will make a controlled descent instead of being destroyed after releasing its payload. The booster will then be recovered from the sea for future use. If successful, India will join the United States, China, and Japan in demonstrating reusable rocket technology. Reusable rockets can significantly reduce launch costs, increase the frequency of space missions, and make satellite launches more affordable. The mission also includes testing an upper stage designed to remain operational in orbit, marking another important step for India’s growing private space industry.
