A new report by Deutsche Bank has ranked the world’s most expensive cities based on the monthly cost of basic utilities for an 85-square-metre apartment. Berlin topped the list, with average monthly utility costs of around ₹39,477, followed by Tel Aviv and Oslo. London, Edinburgh, and Munich also featured among the top six. The report compares expenses such as electricity, heating, cooling, water, and garbage collection across major cities worldwide. Interestingly, three Indian cities are among the world’s five cheapest cities for these utility costs, making India one of the more affordable places to live in comparison. The rankings highlight the wide difference in living expenses across global cities.
